Improve Your Game – The 5 Best Drivers of 2017

Everyone loves their driver. It’s the single most popular club in the golfing world because it generally cost the most amount of money for a single club and it hits the ball the farthest. Buying a new driver is an exciting decision but it can also be a daunting one. With all of this new technology in play from every manufacturer, it can be hard to know where to start.

Many of the major manufacturers spend a a majority of their marketing dollars touting their latest and greatest drivers. Consumers are then led to believe that their new driver is going to single handedly fix for their game. One driver might be better for you than another, despite whatever marketing claims you have seen. In 2017 it seems like it is going to be the the year of adjustable driver. Today many drivers come with changeable features that allow you to change loft, weighting, shaft, face angle, center of gravity bias, etc.

All drivers are not made the same, and every golfers has a different swing. If you are in the market for a new driver, there are seven major aspects to consider: skill level, size and shape of the club head and clubface, color, loft, shaft flexibility, and adjustability. With all that being said, here are 5 of Proclub’s favorite drivers of 2017.

1. 2017 Callaway Epic

Callaway’s Epic Driver outperformed other drivers across several different independent studies. Callaway’s innovative Jailbreak Technology and Exo-Cage/triaxial carbon is to thank. Any golfer, from scratch players to high handicappers, should find more speed, distance and control with GBB Epic.

2. 2017 Taylor Made M1

The all-new M1 driver takes multi-material construction to the next level to deliver distance, forgiveness and complete personalization. Featuring a new 6-layer carbon crown and additional carbon toe panel, the 2017 M1 driver has 43% more carbon than last year’s model.

The additional focus on multi-material construction saves weight to enable lower CG for better launch conditions and allows for an expanded T-Track for improved adjustability.

A redesigned T-Track system with more moveable weight and a longer back track allows for 64% more front-to-back CG movement than the original M1.

3. Srixon Z565

The Srixon Z 565 driver stands out among many of today’s drivers by going back to basics. While other manufactures add graphics, adjustability tools, and new technology, Srixon went with a simple black crown. If you like modest & reliable, this may be the driver for you.

The Srixon Z565 stock shaft is the Miyazaki Kaula Mizu’s Kaula 5 that has a balanced profile. The Srixon Z 565 driver delivers similar performance as some of the higher profile drivers on the market, but without as the hype or bells and whistles.

4. Ping G

The Ping G driver is the follow up to Ping’s incredibly successful G30 line, the best-selling drivers in 2016. Ping continues to show off its ability to employ the latest technology into their products. The biggest change Ping made on this round is the shape of the new drivers, which improves their aerodynamics.

5. Titleist 917 D2 and D3

Titleist doesn’t release drivers very often, so when they do it’s worth checking it out. Titleist just released a D2 and a D3 model. The D2 is designed for forgiveness, while the D3 is geared more advanced players and designed for lower launch and spin.

Titleist 917 D2 and D3 both come with the SureFit CG adjustable weight system that adds technical substance to the new models. This feature has not been seen on a mainstream Titleist driver before. The design is well thought out and the effects are very beneficial, particularly the function to add or reduce the amount of weight in the head to get the best results for your game.
